At the Liberty:"The Boys in the Boat"

DAYTON — ”The Boys in the Boat” is a sports drama about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. It is based on the #1 New York Times bestselling non-fiction novel by Daniel James Brown. “This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the world” (MGM).

Rotten Tomatoes critics rate this movie 57% favorable, but 96% of the audience enjoyed it. IMDb rates this as 7.3 of 10. The Rotten Tomatoes Critics summary is “The Boys in the Boat tells its inspirational true story with heart and solid craftsmanship, but director George Clooney’s stolidly traditional approach prevents it from leaving much of an impact.” This movie is rated PG-13 for language and smoking. The IMDb parent’s guide has all considered categories rated as either none or mild (sex, violence, language, etc.). Runtime is 123 minutes.
