The library has been repainted, and shelves are ready to be restocked.

WAITSBURG - The Weller Public Library looks fresh after Walla Walla's Meticulous Touch Painting, LLC finished painting the front room and hallway. The building's historic tin ceiling stands out with a new coat of paint highlighting its decorative details. The shelves in the front room are painted and ready for library staff to restock, with books available for checkout starting on November 29.

The Friends of the Library are busy with holiday projects and programs. They held an ornament painting event on Saturday, November 18, in the "lift" room at the library. Twenty-five children came to paint snowmen ornaments, which will be hung on the Friends' tree outside the library during the Holiday season.

In December, the Friends will sponsor a StoryWalk in Waitsburg. StoryWalk was created by Anne Ferguson to combine reading and the great outdoors. The library will laminate pages from a children's book and display them around Waitsburg. As readers stroll down the route, they're directed to the next page in the story.

To participate, go to the Weller Library beginning December 1 for a map of the route to read "Snowmen at Night."

The Friends will offer cocoa and cookies in the library on Sunday, December 3, before the Hometown Christmas lighted parade starts. Volunteers are welcome to assist the Friends of the Library with coordinated activities in the coming year.
