WALLA WALLA—The Warren Community Action Fund at the Blue Mountain Community Foundation has approved 19 grants to support local nonprofits providing services in eastern Walla Walla and Columbia Counties. This is the seventh year of grant awards through the Warren Fund, with more than $400,000 distributed to support the community. This year awards were made to the following projects:

• Blue Mountain Heritage Society – $3,500 to support in constructing a Columbia County Museum

• Blue Mountain Humane Society – $3,000 for general operating support

• Blue Mountain Resource Conservation & Development Council – $3000 to support The Camp Wooten Outdoor Environmental Learning Experience

•Christian Aid Center – $1,000 for general operating support

•Columbia County Community Network – $5,000 to support the replacement of the Pavilion flooring

•Columbia County Fair – $2,750 for general operating support

•Friends of the Touchet Valley Golf Course – $2,500 to support the underground sprinkler installation – Phase 3.1

•Kiwanis Club of Dayton, WA – $1,250- to support the restoration of Camp Nancy Lee

•Project Timothy Christian Aid Center – $6,000 for general operating support

•Rural Youth Enrichment Services – $1,000 to support The Touchet Valley Acoustic Music Project

•Skyline Adventures – $1,500 to support the Ski/Snowboard experience

•The Club – $4,000 to support The Club Summer Program

•Touchet Valley Arts Council – $1,500 to support the Summer Cultural Enrichment Program

•Tri-State Steelheaders – $2,500 to support the Salmon in School Program

•Waitsburg Christian Church – $500 to support the purchasing of flood relief pumps

•Walla Walla Senior Center, no information given.

•Weller Public Library – $5,000- to paint the main floor and foyer of the Weller Public Library

•Whitman County Historical Society – $1,000 to support The Lost Apple Project

•YWCA – $2,975 to support the purchasing of enrichment equipment for the opening of a childcare center on the Columbia County Health System campus in Dayton, Wash.

The Warren Community Action Fund honors the deep roots of the Warren family and is focused on continuing the tradition of community service that Robert and Nadine Warren were passionate about. Grants are made to support programs that will improve the quality of life in the community in the areas of health, education, basic human needs, children and youth, agricultural education and training, historic preservation, scientific programs, arts and recreation, and the environment, among others.
