DW Softball Team Lose to Colton

DW COMBINE-The DW high school softball team lost to Colton on Tuesday, May 2 in Colton.  The Wildcats limited the Wolfpack to four hits in the game, which ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. 

In the 13-3 loss, the Wolfpack's Maddi Gallardo and Kameryn Tupling each pitched two innings. Alyssa Segraves, Shaylah King, and Marissa, and Kameryn Tupling each had one hit.

The Wolfpack has a 1-3 district record and has two double-header games left in their season.

HS Baseball Team Ends Season

DW COMBINE-Seniors Levi Boudrieau and Zach Durham played their last high school baseball game as the Wolfpack team ended their season, losing both games of the doubleheader to Tri-City Prep on Saturday, May 6.

In the first game, Will Durham started on the mound, and Jayce Gleason pitched in relief. Boudrieau had the only hit in the game for DW, ending with a 15-0 loss. Boudrieau pitched in the second game 10-0 loss.

Coach Greg Crenshaw said this was a season of growth.  The Wolfpack had seven wins between the varsity and junior varsity teams.  He also stated that the baseball program has grown so that both Waitsburg and Dayton can field teams next year.  "It's the product of hard work by the kids," he said.

Wolfpack Baseball team awards

DW COMBINE-There will not be an all-Spring Sports Awards night this year. Baseball, softball, golf, and track will hold separate sports awards events.

Coach Greg Crenshaw awarded the following awards to his baseball players in the Waitsburg High School Auditorium on May 5:

• CO-MVP: Levi Boudrieau & Jasper Morrow

• NRookie of the Year: Isaias Reyes

• CY Young: Levi Boudrieau 

• Gold Glove: Cyson Morris

• Silver Slugger: Isaias Reyes

• Coaches Award: Zach Durham & Quinn Benavidez

The following received DW baseball letters and certificates of participation:

• Seniors: Levi Boudrieau and Zach Durham

• Juniors: Jayce Gleason, Klint Kuykendall, Cyson Morris, Jasper Morrow, Quinn Benavides, Kaylub Prather

• Sophomores: Graycen Teal, Preston Hinchliffe, Brody Carrigan, Balian Walter, Michael Anderson

• Freshmen:  Tyler Coulston, Ryan Meier, Brenton Segraves, Jared Hankins, Isaias Reyes, Traicen Garcia, William Cranmer, Colten Steinhoff, Will Durham

This year's MS track athletes

Olivia Duncan and Davanee Houk are the two Waitsburg girls competing in middle school track this season.

At the meet in Dayton on April 27, Houk placed first in the 400-meter, second in both the 100-meter hurdles, javelin, and sixth in the 100-meter dash. Duncan placed sixth in the javelin, seventh in discus, and tenth in the 100-meter dash.

Athletes from Dayton, Desales, and Prescott also competed.

Track results

The HS track team hosted an EWAC league meet on Tuesday, May 2.  River View, Goldendale, Granger and Mabton attended the meet.  The following DW athletes placed in the top six.

Mens:

• 100-meters –Reuben Yutzy 3rd; Hudson Reser 5th

• 200-meters – Hudson Reser 4th; Teegan Kenney 6th

• 400-meters – Teegan Kenney 3rd

• 1600-meters – Tristan Rennaker 5th

• 4 x 100 relay – DW 1st; Hudson Reser, Blake French, Teegan Kenney, Reuben Yutzy with a time of 47.51

• Shot put – Reuben Yutzy 3rd

• Javelin – Vaughn Walter 5th

• High jump – Reuben Yutzy 1st; Vaughn Walter 3rd

• Long jump – Teegan Kenney 4th

Womens:

• 100-meters – Alyssa Hollingsworth 5th

• 400-meters – Alyssa Hollingsworth 4th

• Shot put – Kaydance Tiner 4th

• High jump – Makenna Barron 3rd, Alyssa Hollingsworth 4th, Madison Kaehler 5th
