Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley
DW COMBINE—The DW golf team competed against Walla Walla Valley Academy (WWVA,) Goldendale, and White Swan at the Touchet Valley Golf Course in Dayton on April 18.
Due to an irrigation project on the course, only 16 holes were available.
Goldendale golfer Ike O’Leary placed first with a score of 72 on the 16-hole, par 64 course. DW’s Carson Potter shot a 90, and William Daves shot a 135.
In the girls’ competition, WWVA golfer Nell Dodds placed first with a score of 83. DW Sarah Daves shot a 125.
Conditions were very windy, affecting play for most of the round. There was a little rain, a little snow, and even some sunshine for the girls’ final couple of holes, said Coach McGhan.
The Goldendale boys and the WWVA girls dominated the matches. Carson continues to do the little things to improve his game, and Sarah’s score did not show it, but she is hitting the ball better every day, added McGhan.
