Activities for Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday

DAYTON—Some call it Mardis Gras, some Fat Tuesday, but at First United Methodist Church, it’s all about pancakes. The church will host a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper on Tuesday, February 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

All are welcome to enjoy pancakes with toppings, sausage, and some surprises.

Wednesday, February 22, is the beginning of Lent, and the First United Methodist Church invites the public to a simple meal for Ash Wednesday. The meal of soup, bread, and cookies will be offered from noon to 1:00 p.m. at the church in Dayton.

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and is observed by placing ashes on the forehead as a sign of repentance and commitment to Jesus Christ. Ashes will be available to drop-in visitors from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The church is located at 110 S. Third Street, Dayton.
