Board Members Offer Training for Employees of The Club

December 8, 2022

DAYTON — Plus Delta After School Studios (The Club) board of director members, Shellie McLeod and Brad McMasters recently offered The Club employees a training on Goal Setting. Training took place at the Port of Columbia conference room. According to McMasters, “We held the training at the Port because we wanted the employees to understand what a Port District is and why they are important for economic development and workforce development.” Currently, the Port offers annual funding to The Club for workforce training.

Because after-school attendance at the Club has increased to 45+ students per day, there has been an increase in staffing. Many of the employees are in high school or recently out of high school. Executive Director, Jim Pearson and the Club’s board want to help the employees develop stronger skills to aid them in their current and future employment.  McMasters, a licensed Washington State educator, wrote the lesson plan. Objectives included teaching the following concepts: 1. Goal setting requires planning, effort, and action, 2. self-reflection and self-awareness is important in goal setting, and 3. self-evaluation and evaluating past goals is essential for setting future goals. Several interactive activities helped to develop their understanding of those concepts.
