FX Network

FX series "What We Do In The Shadows" follows the modern day lives of vampires just trying to make it in Staten Island. Colin Robinson is a vampire with an unusual talent.

The ghoulishly funny "What We Do In The Shadows" returned this summer with its fourth season. The television show from FX Network is also available on Hulu for streaming.

The series is a "mockumentary" thatfollows a group of ancient vampires as they navigate the modern world on Staten Island, NY.

The vampires share a dilapidated mansion and make the most of their airtime talking to the camera, posing menacingly, and generally self-aggrandizing.

The opening credits show the vampires origin stories in an MTV-like montgage. Set to the perfect theme song, "Your Dead" by 60s folk singer Norma Tanega.

Nandor (Kayvan Novak), the oldest, was once a fierce and bloodthirsty Ottoman Empire warrior. Lazlo, a man-and-womanizer Laszlo (Matt Berry) and his true love, the powerful, Nadja (Natasia Demetriou), are performers who love the limelight. They are attended to by Nandor's devoted human familiar, Guillermo (Harvey Guillen), who is confident his grateful master will turn him into a vampire. He handles the aftermath of messy (very messy) meals, sunset wake-up calls, bill paying, house cleaning, and all the delicate ego maintenance.

The fourth vampire, Colin Robinson is my favorite. Where there are workplace cubicles, you will find vampires like Colin (Mark Proksch), bespeckled and beige leaving his victims in a deep haze after feeding. His powers are undeniably powerful (and familiar.) Even his blood-thirsty housemates are no match for his quirky powers.

I highly recommend this show, the writing is quirky and fun. Guest stars have included Fred Armisen, Aida Turturro, Tilda Swinton, Evan Rachel Wood, and Danny Trejo. The actors manage to make the mockumentary setup fresh and funny. The writers have created unexpected storylines that feel real in their unreal world.

And then there is the perfect Colin Robinson, beware.
