Rosie Warehime has retired as the Weller Public Library manager. She was a grandma figure for many children in Waitsburg and will miss helping people find books, reading with kids, and engaging them in crafts. She had always been excited to go to work and stated it was the most wonderful and rewarding job she had ever had.

Before going to work at the library, Warehime worked at Grain Growers for 20 years. She also worked at the AG Link store, in the office at the Green Giant Company, and the National Bank of Commerce.

Although she loved her work at the library, she felt it was time the kids had a younger person to continue and expand programs. Rosie says the library position is a very fulfilling job.

Current Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Jim Leid, and board members at the time, Eleanora Montgomery and Becky Huwe, hired Rosie as the Library Manager, replacing Su Alexander.

Rosie has done a great job keeping the library going and getting the children reading while working with them during story time and crafts, stated Jim.

"As a long-time library board member, I had the pleasure of being part of the team that hired Rosie Warehime. It could not have turned out better. Rosie did an amazing job in the library, making it a place where families wanted to bring their kids. She also modernized the system to electronic files," wrote Montgomery.

"Warehime was a great manager for our city library. She and her husband, Walt, have lived in Waitsburg for over 60 years, and practically everyone in town knows her. She was admired for her friendliness and helpfulness. The children loved her, and she kept them busy and interested in fun reading material and with arts and crafts that related to the goings on in our town. She took the time with many adults to get to know their preferences in literature and kept them well supplied. Thank you, Rosie, for your service to Waitsburg at the Weller Public Library," penned Huwe.

On Saturday, July 23, adults and kids from the community gathered at the library to wish Rosie a happy retirement. Thanks to Tiffany and Bart Baxter for making the arrangements for the cake and juice for the event and for the gift of a towering, flowering plant given to Rosie.

Waitsburg will miss you, Rosie. Enjoy retirement!
