September 23, 2021

WALLA WALLA—The Walla Walla County Conservation District is holding a virtual meeting on October 5, at 7 p.m. District officials are seeking input from area farmers to determine if there is interest in cost-share programs, and the Voluntary Stewardship Program (VSP).

hazardous areas, and fish and wildlife habitats.

Grant Traynor, VSP Program Coordinator, shared that previous successful VSP have helped pay for road and stream crossing improvements, and field access improvements for farmers, while reducing water pollution.

“We are always looking to do projects that help both farmers and the environment, and the more we do, the more we can show other agencies that our area is keeping up with conservation goals to avoid regulation,” Traynor said in an email.

The meeting will be held via Zoom. Traynor can be reached at grant.traynor@wwccd.net, or by calling (509) 956-3767.
