Columbia-Walla Walla County Fire District #2 is advertising for their first paid Fire Chief position

Letters of interest due by May 1

The Board of Commissioners (BOC) for Waitsburg’s volunteer fire department, Columbia Walla Walla County Fire District #2, is advertising for the first paid Fire Chief position in the department’s history.

The BOC is seeking a part time fire chief for the volunteer fire department. They are looking for an individual with a strong Emergency Medical Services background to serve the fire district which covers parts of both Walla Walla and Columbia County. The board hopes the new chief will be an effective leader to the department and community.

The pay will be based upon the candidate’s level of experience and education. Commissioners state that the ideal candidate would have five years’ experience as an active volunteer fire fighter, or three years’ experience as a full-time paid fire fighter.

The position listing asks that the candidate live within 10 miles of the city limits of Waitsburg.

A regular work schedule will be mutually determined by the BOC and the Chief. Responsibilities will include planning, oversight, budgeting, administration, and general operations as well as other responsibilities outlined in the complete job description.

The BOC is advertising the position with statewide firefighting groups including the Washington State Fire Commissioners and Washington State Firefighters Associations. The commissioners are asking potential candidates to submit a letter of interest, along with their qualifications, to clerkfire2@hotmail.com with the subject line “Interest in Fire Chief Job Application” or via standard mail to CWWFD2, PO Box 925, Waitsburg, WA 99361. The deadline for letters of interest is May 1, 2020.
