Prescott Wins Over Moses Lake Christian, 72-49

December 12, 2019

PRESCOTT- Prescott High School boys basketball hosted Moses Lake Christian on Friday December 6th to open the season schedule. The Prescott Tigers began the game scoring 17 unanswered points with a combination of pressure defense and fast break points. Moses Lake would finally get on the board with a free throw late in the quarter. The first quarter would end with Prescott leading 22-5. Highlights: #12 Jonathan Cardenas opening the scoring on an inside shot in the lane; #3 Victor Garcia scored on a breakaway layup and got fouled; #23 Miguel Ayala scored on an offensive rebound off a missed free throw.

Moses Lake settled down a little in the 2nd quarter, but it was clear that Prescott was still in control. With time running out, Jonathan Cardenas closed out the scoring for Prescott somehow getting a shot off in the lane in heavy traffic before the buzzer. The Tigers would go into halftime leading 36-15.

Prescott hit a rough stretch in the 3rd quarter. Moses Lake went on a run where they outscored Prescott 15-5 to cut the lead to 11 points. Most of these points where scored by Pierre Boorman who kept driving to the lane, jumping and making remarkable adjustments mid-air, to get shots off that kept dropping in. Prescott would lose the quarter, 17-8 but remained in the lead 44-32.

In the 4th quarter, Prescott came back with the same intensity they played with in the 1st quarter. This time it would be freshman Matthew Patzkowski leading the way, scoring nine points in the quarter, all of them three-pointers. #11 Antonio Hernandez scored inside with an offensive rebound off a free throw miss. It would be the second time in the game that Prescott would score off of a teammates' free throw miss. It's not very common to see this once in a game much less twice -but it speaks to the Tigers' aggressive rebounding. Pierre Boorman would end the game with 27 points for Moses Lake, and Jonathan Cardenas lead all scorers with 29.
