Swim Season is Just Around the Corner

Prescott

Touchet Valley kids won’t have to wait to go swimming once school is out. The Prescott Pool is set to open at 1 p.m. on Tues., June 11. The pool will operate daily throughout the summer. Hours of operation are 1 p.m.- 7 p.m. Mon.-Thurs. and Noon-7 p.m. on Fri., Sat. and Sun. Pool Administrative Assistant Yvonne Jackson said some evening swims are in the plans as well with the first night swim taking place on Sat., June 22 from 7-9 p.m.

Prices remain the same as last year. Family and grandparent passes are $130 and include two adults and their children or grandchildren under the age of 18. Individual passes are $60.

Daily passes are $5 for those between the ages of 18 and 64 and $4 for youth (ages 6-17) and seniors (age 65+). Children age 5 and under are free in the compa- ny of a paying adult.

Prescott will offer back-to-back two-week swim lesson sessions throughout the summer for all ages (including Mother and Tot) and abilities. The first session will start June 17. Sign up at the pool on or before June 17.

Thanks to a donation from Northwest Grain Growers lessons are free to those living in the 99348 zip code. Those living outside the zip code area will pay $25 per eight-lesson session.

Prescott will host the Dayton aquacise class (see sidebar below) as well as The Club and Vista Hermosa day camps.

Contact the pool front desk at (509) 849-2214 or leave a message with the activ- ity center at (509) 849-2314.

Waitsburg

Contingent upon the availability of lifeguards, the Waitsburg pool is tentatively scheduled to open on June 24. Watch The Times for updates on hours and fees.

Dayton

Grants and donations have made it possible for any Dayton resident to swim at Prescott for no charge, according to Friends of the Dayton Community Pool mem- ber Vicki Zoller. Passes will be available at the Prescott Pool front desk for Dayton swimmers and Columbia County Transportation will provide free rides from The Club in Dayton.
