Arlene Joyce Beuhler, 87, passed away Monday, Nov. 19 at Booker Rest Home. Arlene was born in Wenatchee on Aug. 11, 1931 to Gilbert "Gib" and Jessie Hamlin. She had a brother, Gilbert "Sonny" Charles who passed away in 1930; and a sister, Anita, who currently resides near Cabot, Arkansas. Later, Arlene moved with her mother and Anita to Seattle, where she attended West Seattle High School. She graduated in 1949.

In 1951, Arlene married Edwin "Ed" Beuhler and they resided in the Wallingford area of Seattle. They had four sons: Ken, Mark, Howard and Gilbert. The family moved to New Orleans in 1970. This was followed by moves to Salt Lake City, Utah; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Prairie Village, Kansas. In 1989 Arlene and Ed moved to Leavenworth, Washington; where they spent spent much of their retirement. In 2005 they moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where Ed passed away in 2008. Arlene moved with Howard, and daughter-in-law, Sylvia, to Dayton, Wash. in 2012. She resided at Booker Rest Home from 2015 until her passing. She thrived on all the love and attention she received at Booker and was very fond of the staff.

In Seattle, Arlene worked as a testing assistant at the University of Washington. She was active as a den leader in the Cub Scouts, organizing and leading various craft activities. She would take the den on many field trips that are still fondly remembered by her sons. When she could find the time, she loved to ice skate and spent many hours at the ice arena in Ballard (Seattle). In Salt Lake City, she proctored exams for the University of Utah testing services. At the Prairie Village Senior Center, she was active as both a volunteer and an employee. She taught senior exercise classes, was a member of a dance troupe, and served as a home services volunteer. This interest would be carried to Leavenworth where she was active in the Wenatchee Senior Center and another dance troop in Leavenworth.

Arlene loved to sing, and would often sing hymns or oldies dating from when her father would play violin and banjo at grange hall dances. She also loved to play "Name That Tune" whenever an old song would come up on the radio. Arlene loved art and painting throughout her life, in particular enjoying watercolors and pastels. She continued to enjoy painting during her time at Booker.

Her husband Ed, and her son Ken preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Anita (Clint) Keathley; sons: Mark (Yuko), Howard (Sylvia), and Gil (Edna); and grandchildren: Marissa, Patrick, Maleenee, Mila, and Lana.
