WAITSBURG—The Dayton-Waitsburg volleyball team has been no a roll the last two weeks, winning matches against Mabton, DeSales, Columbia, Kittitas and Liberty Christian.

In Waitsburg on Saturday, DW cruised to a four-set match win, 25-22, 26-24, 14-25, 25-22.

“This was a well-matched game,” said DW Coach Tara Brenner. “Our Freshman Setter Mya Wood did a fantastic job leading in assists and serves. Lots of close calls, and DW handled it with a tough mind.”

Wood had four aces in the match. She also had four kills and 22 assists. Devon Harshman had 21 kills and 10 blocks. Tatum Laughery led the team with 28 digs.

“Over all, it is great to watch this team evolve and grow together,” said Brenner. “We are looking forward to playing WWVA on Tuesday. They are a strong, hard hitting team and holding #1 in league.”

On Monday night, DW knocked off Liberty Christian in straight sets, 25-16, 25-16, 25-15. Stats were not available at press time.

DW beat Mabton three sets to one on Oct. 4, 23-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-22. They beat DeSales in straight sets on Oct. 9, 25-10, 25-7, 25-18. On Oct. 11 DW beat Columbia Burbank, also in straight sets, 25-21, 25-13, 25-21.

After Tuesday’s match against WWVA in College Place, DW wraps up their regular season on Thursday night with a match at White Swan.
