Dayton Students to Speak About Service Project

August 16, 2018

DAYTON—Earlier this month, five young people from Dayton’s United Methodist and First Congregation Churches traveled to Wellpinit, Wash. to volunteer with Sierra Service Project.

As part of a larger group of volunteers, Jacob Holmberg, Justin Jaech, Melany Lane, Sarah Shutters and Genesee Smith worked on home improvements under the direction of the Spokane Housing Authority, while learning about the Spokane Tribe of Indians.

The youth and their project supervisor, David Reinholz, will speak about their experiences on Sunday during the 10 a.m. worship service at Dayton First Congregational Church.

Sierra Project is a Christian non-profit organization providing opportunities for middle and high school youth and young adults, to experience the power of serving people with cultural and life experiences different from their own, according to Rev. Linda Weistaner, Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Dayton.
