Martin, Wooldridge Move On to State

At regionals for Dayton, Martin won javelin; Wooldridge won 300 hurdles

QUINCY - Cal Martin and Hayden Wooldridge will be moving on to the State 2B tournament this weekend in Cheney, after competing in the regional district 5/6 championships.

Wooldridge qualified with a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles, with a personal best time of 44.37, beating his nearest competition by nearly three meters. Wooldridge was also fourth in the 110 meters, at 16.63, also a personal best.

Martin will advance in the javelin, where he topped all competitors with a personal-record throw of 170-01. Martin out-threw his closest competitor by nearly 20 feet.

"Our four athletes competed well at the regional championships," said Dayton Coach Dan Nechodom. "They each prepared well, physically and mentally, both during the days before and at the meet. Ginger (Assistant Coach Ginger Bryan) and I were very proud to watch them shine, whether they qualified for state or not."
