Dayton's Savannah McFarland unleashes a pitch during a game in Dayton earlier this year.

WALLA WALLA – The Dayton girls' softball team started out slow in the first game of their double-header here against DeSales, striking out nine times on the way to a 4-1 loss.

The Lady Bulldogs only managed two hits in the game. Those came from Hanna Becker and Megan Robins.

The Bulldog bats came alive in the second, as the team scored four runs in the third inning on their way to a 6-0 shutout win.

Mia Becker led the way with a bases-clearing triple in that fourth frame.

"Savannah McFarland pitched two complete games, as (Megan) Robins, our other pitcher, got injured in the first game," said Dayton assistant coach Desirae Jones. "Savannah did an outstanding job limiting their hits."

The Lady Bulldogs are now 3-1 in the league and 5-4 overall.
