Waitsburg School Board Update

New board member Russ Knopp and incumbents Marilyn Johnson and Christy House took the oath of office.

Ross Hamann was re-elected as board chairman and Christy house was elected as vice-chairman.

Board members reported on the WSSDA (Washington State School Directors Association) annual conference.

Approved the closure of the district office from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1.

Approved creating an exploratory committee to study and report on the logistics of a football combine with Dayton High School. See story in next week’s issue.

Approved placing a replacement M&O levy to collect $559.000 in 2017 and $570,000 in 2018 on the Feb. special elections ballot. See story Page 1.

Approved placing a 20-year $4.8 million upgrades and improvements bond on the February special elections ballot. See story Page 1.

Approved increasing the middle school athletic director stipend from $4,000 to $5,000 due to an increase in duties since the dissolution of the Waitsburg-Prescott combine.
