Brown Sentenced in Stabbing

DAYTON – Dayton man Dante Brown, 19, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in Columbia County Superior Court last Wednesday.

Brown was sentenced to 64 days of confinement but received credit for the 64 days he’d been awaiting trial in the Columbia County Jail and was released from custody. He will continue to be supervised by the Department of Corrections, according to County Prosecutor Rea Culwell.

Brown was arrested in early December on suspicion of stabbing another Dayton male, Dalton Bennett, in the back during an altercation at a home at 718 E. Dayton Ave. Brown fled the scene and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

He was captured by Walla Walla County Sheriff’s deputies during a traffic stop a few days after the stabbing.
