Death Leaves Vacancy on Prescott City council

PRESCOTT – Two-term city council member Marion “Gene” Alandi passed away at his home in Prescott on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at age 65.

Alandi, a Vietnam veteran, was serving his second term on the city council at the time of his passing. He is survived by his son, Prescott High School graduate Dusty Alandi, who is currently serving in the U.S. Army. No services are planned at this time. “The Prescott council would like to recognize Gene and express the City’s appreciation for his service to the community,” said Mayor Steve Heimbigner.

The council will appoint a new member to Alandi’s Position 2 vacancy during an upcoming meeting. Interested persons are asked to submit a letter of interest by Thursday, Feb. 5. Letters may be mailed to PO Box 27, Prescott, or submitted in person during regular City Hall office hours. Applicants must be a registered Prescott voter and must have been a resident of the city for a period of at least one year in order to be eligible to serve as a council member.
