FIRE SEASON UNDERWAY

An airplane dropped retardant Tuesday morning on a hill between the North Touchet Road and Wolf Fork Road south of Dayton. Fire crews responded to multiple fire calls in Walla Walla and Columbia Counties Monday and Tuesday due to lightning strikes. As The Times went to press Tuesday evening, new fires were being faught near Crall Hollow and Hatley Gultch along the North Touchet Road, but rain was on the way.
