Dayton Softball Flip Flops with TCP in Double Header

RICHLAND - Dayton's Lady 'Dawgs softball team did an about face in a May 2 double-header against Tri-Cities Prep in Richland, getting ten-runned in game one but returning the favor in game two. The 'Dawgs lost the first game 12-2 and won the second 15-3, with each game lasting six innings.

"Tri Cities Prep hit the ball and made things happen in the first game. They are much improved over past years and I don't think our girls were quite ready to play. (TCP's) Vargas pitched a great game and we did not consistently put the bat on the ball. It can be tough to get up for a new game after getting ten-runned like we did. But the Bulldogs showed a lot of heart in that second game. We started the game with enthusiasm and purpose. We got a hit in every inning and scored in all but one inning, regaining our consistency. We had our best hitting game in that second game. Combine that with zero errors, it was great to see." said Bulldog's Assistant Coach Desirae Jones.

Dayton's battery was Lexus Ward and Madison Mings. Ward struck out nine for the day and only allowed three free passes to first. Mings threw out two for three stealing second and didn't allow any passed balls. "Courtney Mings had a great day at the plate with six hits and nine RBIs," said Jones.
