The Times - Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg Knowledge Bowl team is going strong, moving from third rank in the region in December to second place in January. Waits­burg's score of 98 points is second only to Han­ford High which has the record high score for the past five years of 142 points. Kennewick holds third place in the region 88 points.

At the January 13 meet hosted by Dayton in Walla Walla, Waitsburg blew the competition out of the wa­ter with 98 points -- a 23 point lead over Dayton's second place score of 75. Five schools competed at the meet including: Waitsburg, Dayton, Clarkston, Pomeroy and Prescott.

Waitsburg competes next in the Tri-Cities on Febru­ary 6, then in regionals at Waitsburg on February 24. Regional placement will determine qualification for the state meet in late March.
