DAYTON - A 14-year-old boy from Burbank died Saturday from injuries suffered in a fall while snowboarding at Bluewood Ski area south of here.

Dian Ver Valen, public information officer for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office issued the following statement on the incident:

Ski Bluewood contacted the Columbia County Public Safety Communications Center on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 12:48 p.m. to request that Columbia County Fire District 3 Ambulance respond to a medical incident involving a juvenile. District 3 Ambulance personnel responded and arrived at the lodge, approximately 22 miles away on icy roads, at 1:24 p.m. Emergency medical technicians on the scene requested assistance from air ambulance, but weather conditions at Bluewood prohibited them from responding. While District 3 Ambulance was on scene, a second patient was brought to them for care from ski patrol. The second patient had injuries from an accident that also required medical attention. District 3 Ambulance transported both patients to Dayton, leaving Ski Bluewood at 1:45 p.m. and arriving at Dayton General Hospital at 2:13 p.m.
