WAITSBURG - Out of 15 area schools - large and small alike - Waitsburg's Knowledge Bowl team currently ranks third, only one point shy of second place.

"I'm impressed," said Knowledge Bowl Coach Brad Green. "We held our own even against the mighty Hanford High School."

Waitsburg took first place in their first two meets of the year - the first with a score of 88 and the second with a score of 100. The next meet will take place in Dayton against an unlimited number of teams. In February teams compete in the Tri-Cities and in late February the regional meet will take place at Waitsburg. "That meet is where we must qualify for State. At this point we are pretty confident of going!" said Green.

The State meet will be held in Arlington, Wash. on March 22. "It's quite an experience, and we really want to go again this year," Green said.
