The Times - Serving Waitsburg, Dayton and the Touchet Valley

Nicholas Pearson, son of Randy and Becky Pearson, and Heidi Miller, daughter of Jack and Claudia Miller, were selected as Waitsburg High School's November Exchange Youth of the Month. These two were honored at the Exchange Club's weekly luncheon, Mon- day, November 18 at the Marcus Whitman Hotel. Being selected as Youths of the Month make them eligible for the Youth of the Year honor, which includes a $1,000 scholarship. The Walla Walla Exchange Club is one of 700 clubs that make up the National Exchange Club, a service organization which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. Founded in 1911 in Detroit, Michigan by businessmen who wanted to "exchange" ideas on making their community better, the Exchange Club volunteer efforts have supported the needs of the country and of local communities, making it the country's oldest American service organization operating exclusively in the United States. The Walla Walla Exchange Club's focus of service is helping the youth of our valley.
