Baxters Celebrate 50 Years Together

Bertie and Edna (Bitzi) Baxter are celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary this Saturday November 9th, 2013.

The couple met at Skagit Speedway in Alger, WA. Bert raced Super modifieds and Bitzi was a pit girl. The couple's first date was at the drive-in where they saw Lady and the Tramp. The couple was married on November 9, 1963, at the private home of a family friend in Snohomish, WA.

Mr. and Mrs. Baxter have one child, Bart (Tiffany) Baxter of Waitsburg, WA. They have two grandchildren, Nicholaus (Amy) Baxter and Tyler Baxter. They have one great- grandson Hood Baxter. Three step-grandchildren Savannah (Miguel) Castillo, Zachary Marick, Alex Laposi and two step-great grandchildren Makenzie and Sophia Castillo.

Mr. and Mrs. Baxter dedicated 10 years of their lives to the care of 40 foster children. Mr. Baxter retired in 1991 after 35 years of service in the body shop at the Ford Motor Co. in Sedro Woolley, WA. Mrs. Baxter worked as an LPN for 5 years at the Northern State Hospital, then as a wrapper for Andal's Custom Meats for 9 years.

After visiting one of their foster children in Waitsburg the Baxter's fell in love with the town and moved to Waitsburg in 1991. The Baxter's purchased the Local video store, Mr. Baxter mowed lawns and Mrs. Baxter ran the store for five years then sold the store in 1996 when her mother needed her to care for her full time.Mr. and Mrs. Baxter are active in the community.

The Baxter's enjoy attending local sporting events, and are on the committee for the Waitsburg Classic Auto Show. Mr. Baxter has driven bus for the Prescott School District for the past 15 years and Mrs. Baxter has worked as a caregiver and is currently employed with Hope and Family Social Service.

The couple will be honored November 9, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at the Waitsburg Lyons Memorial Building in Waits- burg, WA with dinner and dessert hosted by their son and daughter-in-law. Anyone wanting to attend that hasn't been notified please call Tiffany 509-540-8885 or just show up.
