The End of an Era

March 28, 2013

After nearly 17 years of regular performances, Jack and Nadine Dieringer have retired from their weekend gig in Dayton's Weinhard Hotel lobby. According to the Hotel's co-owner Shellie McLeod, Nadine suffered a fall about a month ago. Initially, the Dieringers cancelled two weekend performances, but Jack then informed the McCleods that it was time to give it up. Nadine, 85, and Jack, 87, began playing in the Weinhard lobby in 1996. Jack set up his own drum set for each performance. He purchased his drums in Walla Walla in 1966. Nadine played the hotel's grand piano. They played a wide variety of show tunes and old standards. Above: Jack and Nadine played to an unseen crowd in the summer of 2010.
