CITY HALL CLOSURE

WAITSBURG -- City Hall will be closed starting on Wednesday Nov. 23 through Friday Nov. 25 and will be back open on Nov. 28. It is closed on the 23rd in order to have City Hall's carpets cleaned and Nov. 24 and 25 or Thanksgiving.

THANKSGIVING DINNER

WAITSBURG - A Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner is set for Thursday, Nov. 24 at the Presbyterian Church. Anyone who would otherwise be alone and all neighbors of the community are welcome to attend.

BLACK DOG RESCUE FUNDRAISER

WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg Corral Wranglers will be accepting donations for Black Dog Rescue at this year's Hometown Christmas event. Devon Harshman is organizing a donation table with her fellow 4-H members. The group asks for donations of cat and dog food, toys and treats to help care for the animals in the rescue program.

BOLDMAN HOUSE, CHRISTMAS MARKET OPEN

DAYTON -- Christmas magic is real at two of Dayton's museums in the Town That Still Believes. The Christmas Market at the Depot and a Boldman House Christmas are just part of Historic Dayton's Christmas Kickoff event the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Christmas Market at the Depot will be open Friday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 26 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 222 E. Commercial. The Dayton Historic Depot Society is sponsoring a contest for local school children, with drawings and new name ideas on display during the event and voting encouraged by the public. The child with the entry that receives the most votes will win $50.


A Boldman House Christmas takes visitors magically back in time. Period costumes and decorations are featured in this fully-restored historic home located at 410 N. First Street. Live music with pianist Julia Mark on hand, and free nose flutes (a favorite of the Boldman Sisters) and Boldman family recipes will be available. Hours for the event are Friday and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. and admission is free. DAYTON FESTIVAL'S RENEWABLE ENERGY

DAYTON -- With its historic buildings and small town enthusiasm, it's appropriate for Dayton's holiday theme to be "The Town that Still Believes." With an assist from Pacific Power's Blue Sky renewable energy, Dayton is a town that believes in renewable energy as well. To cast a sustainable shimmer on the traditional festivities beginning Nov. 25, 12 megawatts of Blue Sky renewable energy is being acquired to offset the energy used by holiday lights in Flour Mill Park and on Main Street.


CITIZENS INVITED TO BALLOT COUNTS, MEETINGS

WALLA WALLA -- The Canvassing Board Meeting is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 28 at 8 a.m. In addition to normal canvassing duties, the Board will also review the "Walla Walla County Election Canvassing Board Administrative Rules and Procedures" pertaining to Recount Procedures, Observers Rules and applicable RCW's in anticipation of a possible recount.


Observers are welcome at Canvassing Board meetings, logic and accuracy tests, ballot processing, ballot preparation and ballot tabulation.

A minimum of one from each political party is requested to observe all processes. The remainder of "accepted" ballots will be tabulated at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 29. The final results will be released shortly thereafter. The General Election will be certified by Walla Walla County on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m. The General Election will be certified by the State on Wednesday, Dec. 8.
