Blade By Blade

March 17, 2011

Each of the 149 new Garfield County wind mills built for Puget Sound Energy has three blades and each has to be moved by truck. The blades, which are made from composite materials, are about 160 feet long, seen here just outside Waitsburg. Together, the 149 turbines are expected to generate enough clean energy for 100,000 homes, according to the power company. They will be operational early in 2012.
