CITY HALL CLOSED
WAITSBURG - Waitsburg City Hall will be closed for part of Thursday and all of Friday as the city clerk travels to Spokane for a class related to completing the city's annual report. Anyone wishing to make a payment during those days may do so via the drop box located in front of City Hall on Main Street.
HOLLYWOOD HOTEL IN DAYTON
DAYTON - The Dayton Drama Club will present Hollywood Hotel on March 10, 11 and 12 at 7 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. Admission is $6. This is a comedy about three teenage girls from Missouri who head to Hollywood. The girls stay in a run-down cottage in a court called Hollywood Hotel. They meet people from a beauty queen trying to be the next Marilyn Monroe to a handyman who writes science fiction.
DAYTON DAYS ROYALTY WANTED
DAYTON - Tryouts for a position on the Dayton Days Royalty court will take place Sunday, March 6, at the indoor arena of the Columbia County Fairgrounds beginning at 10:30 a.m.
High school-aged girls wanting to try out will need to complete a riding competition, have two letters of recommendation, participate in a personal interview and give a two-three minute speech.
This presentation will take place in front of Dayton Days board members, families and guests.
The selection for a queen will be determined by the board and announced at the coronation dinner. Royalty members will be judged on their efforts and productivity toward court support and fundraising.

LOCAL STUDENT HONORED
SPOKANE - Devon Strang of Dayton has been named to the Whitworth University Laureate Society for fall semester 2010.
Strang qualified for the academic honors society by maintaining a grade point average of at least 3.75 during the semester.
DIVERSITY VENDORS NEEDED
WALLA WALLA - Vendor applications are now available for the 18th annual Diversity Day Multicultural Arts Festival. The festival will be in Pioneer Park in Walla Walla on Sunday, June 19 (Father's Day), from 11 a.m. until dusk. The festival is organized by the Walla Walla Diversity Coalition.

NEW HOSPICE GRIEF GROUP
WALLA WALLA - Two new grief support groups sponsored by Walla Walla Community Hospice will March 23 and continue every Wednesday through May 25. A morning group will meet from 10-11:30 a.m. and an evening group will meet from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Hospice office. The WWCH bereavement team will facilitate the group. The book Understanding Your Grief by Dr. Allan Wolfelt is used as a guideline.
There is no charge, but participants are encouraged to register by calling the WWCH office at 525-5561 or by email to info@wwhospice.org before March 17.
