Lance Corporal Morgan T. Baker, U.S. Marine Corps, was recently promoted from Private First Class. Baker, the son of Loyal Baker of Waitsburg and Kathy Berry of College Place, and a 2009 graduate of Waitsburg High School, is currently assigned to the 1st Marines, 7th Battal­ion, Twentynine Palms, Ca­lif. He is deployed overseas on the 31st Marine Expedi­tionary Unit.

Baker is the grandson

Tom and Anita Baker of Waitsburg and Joan and Lar­ry Summers of Walla Walla, and the late Ted Berry.
