WRONG NAME SIGNS ON HIGHWAY

August 5, 2010

WALLA WALLA - Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) representatives associated with the new Highway 12 project have advised that the incorrect county road name signs, printed and put in place by the state along certain portions of the new highway as part of the project, will be corrected by mid-August.

Although the county-designated road names were determined months ago and the information provided to the state, unfortunately there was a mix-up and some incorrect signs have been put up. The area from the Myra Road roundabout to Martin Archery, going west, now bears a name of "West Pine Street"; the correct county road name for this portion is "Heritage Road". In addition, the stretch of the former highway beginning at Martin Archery to the end of the project is currently wrongly posted as "Vintage Loop", and will be corrected to "Old Highway 12". No other road names will be changed. County staff has been working with Dispatch to assist with any emergency call issues, and sent notification letters out regarding road name changes to residents and the Post Office.

In the interim, until WSDOT makes the necessary corrections, questions regarding county road names in the area of the new highway should be directed to Barbara McKinney,

Master Street Addressing Guide Coordinator, through the County Public Works Department. Her direct number is 509/524-2732.
