Jim McCary and his daughter Laurie Dillard of Mc- Cary Construction work Monday on the new addition to the Smith Hollow Schoolhouse on Commercial Avenue in Dayton. The schoolhouse originally had a meeting room on the back of it that was used for community events, but the addition was left behind when the school was moved to its current site in November 2010. The schoolhouse restoration is a project of the Blue Mountain Heritage Society. When it is finished, the school room will host an exhibit of artifacts from country schools in the area from years past. The addition will be used to host a rotating exhibit, explaining the history of other country schools. A new bathroom will also be added in the structure for patrons.
