Sophomore Alejandro Blanco scored a hat trick, all in the second half, to lead the Tiger victory. The Tigers will play St. George's on Friday night in the state semi-final game. YAKIMA – The Dayton volleyball team came to the state 2B tournament at the Sundome here with hopes of coming home with a trophy. That didn’t happen, but coach Shannon Turner said she was very pleased with the team’s performance, despite dropping two of three matches. “This was the first time competing at the State Tournament for all of these girls,” Coach Turner said. “They handled themselves well and had a great showing. BREWSTER, Wash. – The Dayton-Waitsburg football team took another long road trip Friday, and again came away with a lopsided win. In a crossover seeding game here, DW routed the 2B District 6 champion team Tonasket, 49-7. COLFAX – The Waitsburg volleyball team ended its season here Saturday with a loss to Colton in three sets, 25-17, 25-14, 25-8, in the 1B District Tournament. On Wednesday, the Lady Cardinals lost to Lacrosse-Washtucna in the opening round of district play, also in three sets. For the tournament, Devon Harshman had three kills and four blocks. PASCO – Waitsburg's Emily Adams placed sixth, out of 78 runners, on Saturday at the state 1B/2B cross country meet at Sun Willows Golf Course here on Saturday. Waitsburg senior Jacob Dunn was selected by the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) staff as an Athlete of the Week for his achievements in football. DAYTON - Dayton schools are providing a rooter bus to the DW vs. Kittitas game on Friday for $20 per person. The fee covers the bus ride only. Rooters must pay for their entrance ticket and have money for food they may choose to purchase.
