LYLE, Wa. – The Dayton-Waitsburg baseball team traveled to Lyle Saturday for a double header against Lyle/Wishram/Klickitat, and won both games, allowing only one run all day. DW pitcher Jacob Dunn threw a no-hitter in game one, and teammate Kyle Gradwohl followed up with a one-hit game in the nightcap. CHENEY – With 1,100 athletes from throughout the state, Dayton’s track and field team faced a lot of great competition on Saturday at the Van Kuren Invitational here. Hayden Wooldridge came out with personal record times in both hurdle events, placing sixth in the 110-meter hurdles, in a field of 39, with a time of 16.90. WAITSBURG - The Waitsburg track team kept their coaches very busy this last week, as they participated in two regular meets and a special invitational meet. The team competed at Colfax Tuesday and Cheney Saturday. Landon Callas and Emily Adams also competed Saturday at the Pasco Invitational. At Colfax, 1B and 2B schools squared off, with Waitsburg athletes posting 22 personal records and three season records. POMEROY – The Dayton-Waitsburg baseball team traveled to Pomeroy on April 5 for what turned into a pitchers' duel that took the game into extra innings. DW prevailed, 1-0 after a wild ninth inning. D-W struggled at the plate, always seeming to hit the ball to a fielder. The team had only one hit through eight innings. Pomeroy tallied six hits, but was unable to score. DAYTON – The Dayton softball team hosted Desales in a double-header Friday, and lost both games, 7-5 and 12-6. The first game was a hard-fought battle, with the lead changing throughout the game, before the Lady Bulldogs fell, 7-5, in nine innings. MILTON-FREEWATER – Dayton and Waitsburg track teams traveled to Milton-Freewater on Friday to take part in the "Carnival of Speed" track and field meet. Waitsburg senior Emily Adams brought home two first-place medals. She won the 800 meters, with a time of 2:26.86, and the triple jump with a distance of 33 feet.
