Both girls were 2018-2019 Grand Officers. At the 2019 session, Kendra Smith was appointed to the position of Grand Camps for the upcoming year. Submitted by Patricia Wilson Seven members of the Waitsburg Eastern Star Chapter attend WA State Grand Chapter June 24-26, 2019, in Wenatchee. Waitsburg’s Worthy Matron Patricia Wilson served as Page to the Grand Worthy Matron at Grand Chapter. It was reported that WA State raised $55,926.00 in the 2018-2019 term for Fred Hutchinson Breast Cancer Research, $700.00 in the first three months of 2019 for the new project of Service Dogs ($150,000 nationally), and over $35,000.00 was awarded in education scholarships....

The Dayton Kiwanis hosted the annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Dayton City Park. Dayton High School Honor Society students filled more than 1,000 plastic eggs with candy. Those who found the “Golden Eggs” received special prizes. Student applications have been received for $4,000 in Kiwanis scholarships to be presented at the Dayton High Commencement. The Waitsburg Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star is very excited to sponsor two applicants for the Eastern Star Training Award for Religious Leadership (ESTARL) scholarship. Applicants are Lucas Kulhanek-Arenes and Catherine Lyle who are currently completing their 2nd year of instruction. Dan Dills is also being sponsored for the Alexandra Schenking Nursing Scholarship. The Dayton Kiwanis assisted the local Lions Club with their Crab Dinner in early March. The Lions helped us with our annual Turkey Bingo event last November and we helped them with their Crab Dinner. Our club is actively connecting with the local school district: On Feb. 28 the FFA Chapter Debate Team demonstrated their presentation in preparation for the State competition. Waitsburg Lions Club Update By Jesse Smit Waitsburg Lions Club had their annual Kids Night on March 12th. It is a special meeting that allows members to bring kids, grandkids and/or related family members to the meeting to learn more about Lions Club. Along with a great dinner, games and prizes. Our total turnout was 23 kids. The Annual Rib Feed is scheduled for May 4th. It runs from 6-8pm at the Don Thomas building at the Fairgrounds.
