WAITSBURG – The new Main Street Bridge on Waitsburg's north end was set to be complete last week, but a complication with the rails has resulted in a delay. A potentially significant delay, depending on how the weather cooperates. A train was derailed on the newly operational short line railroad, just west of Waitsburg on Bolles Road Tuesday morning. The Port of Columbia opened the line last month after it had been closed for nearly three years due to needed repairs on bridges and a section of track near the Touchet River that was suffering from bank erosion. Waitsburg High School classes pitted against one another to see who could bring in the most food to the Waitsburg Resource Center on Wednesday night. WAITSBURG – The Waitsburg Town Hall Association will hold its annual meeting and elections on Thurs., Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. at Waitsburg Town Hall on Main Street. Coffee and desserts will be available.
