    The Times|Dec 17, 2015

The Tree By Jessika Lambert I was hearing a cracking sound and I felt a funny feeling. Before I knew it I was on the ground! I was picked up and put into the back of a truck. I was back there for about 3 hours. When the people in the truck got to their house they took me in the living room. They watered me, I was so thirsty! I got decorated, and they put a lot of presents under me. It was the next morning, the family was up, they saw all of the presents and they were so happy. I was happy to celebrate Christmas with them. The Snowman Party By...

  • Fifth Grade ~ Gabe Kiefel ~ Christmas Stories

    The Times|Dec 17, 2015

Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer By Alexandyr Dahlby Did you know that Rudolf never had a nose that glowed? He actually had very good eyesight to see in the fog. The reason for this is that Santa Claus took very good care of Rudolf. His father is Donder, a reindeer who pulls Santa’s sleigh. That is how Rudolf got to be the head of the team. When Santa said “Rudolf with your nose so bright, won`t you guide my sleigh tonight?” he didn`t actually mean that. He actually meant only, “Will you guide my sleigh tonight.” Perhaps this is the reason why San...

  • A Heartwarming Hometown Christmas

    The Times|Dec 10, 2015

I have fond memories of my oldest son and I selling hot dogs and cookie-in-a-jar mixes at Hometown Christmas years ago, while raising funds for him to participate in the Sasayama Sister City exchange program. It's not that I love standing behind a booth selling things – I don't. It was the support and encouragement we received from the community, which helped make his once-in-a-lifetime trip a reality, that still warms my heart. As I strolled through Town Hall during last weekend's c...

    Dena Wood, The Times|Dec 10, 2015

WAITSBURG – When the Waitsburg School Board approved the district’s 2015-16 schedule, high school principal Stephanie Wooderchak expressed concern that the two-week holiday break might leave some students without adequate nutrition during a time when family resources are already stretched tight by holiday expenses and heating bills. Thanks to the Waitsburg Resource Center, that is no longer a concern. Not only will children be able to enjoy a healthy lunch at no charge, they’ll also have a war...

    Dena Wood, The Times|Dec 3, 2015

WAITSBURG – Sometimes, there's simply no time like the present, even when it comes to getting married. Fortunately, Historical Society member Anita Baker was up for a bit of spontaneity when Brain Pendleton and Darchelle Worley gave her a call last Friday to ask if they could get married in the Bruce House Museum – in a couple of hours. Anita was glad to accommodate and even played "Here Comes the Bride" on the antique parlor organ as the bride made her entrance. Anita said the ceremony was a s...
