The WHS Knowledge Bowl Team accepted an invitation from Lady Katherine of Akornebir, Baroness of Wastekeep (aka Kathy Carpenter), to serve during the Canton of Akernbir's yearly feast held at Waitsburg Town Hall on Nov. 14. WALLA WALLA – On Nov. 1, Robert Jackson was appointed Associate Superintendent of the West Complex of the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla. WAITSBURG - Thousands of Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoeboxes packed with gifts and school supplies for children in Third World countries will be collected Nov. 16-23 at church relay centers across the country. In 2014, a total of 16,814 shoebox gifts were given by local donors, including 152 from the Dayton-Waitsburg area. Waitsburg Presbyterian Church Reverand Bret Moser was recently honored with a free flight in a WII trainer plane for his service to our country. The flight was provided through Amvets of Walla Walla. The pilot, local farmer Mark Small, owns the plane and has recently given rides to Waitsburg residents Jack McCaw and Dave Morbach, as well. In early September, The Times shared the story of Waitsburg Middle School teacher and high school football coach Gabe Kiefel and his experience as a potential bone marrow donor.
