  • School District Seeks Input on Facilities

    Ken Graham, The Times|Oct 2, 2014

After considering the results, and receiving feedback from members of the community, school administrators have begun work to prepare a scaledback plan to put before voters in 2015. Instead, council passed and approved a motion to support fundraising efforts to secure the piece contingent upon cash payments being paid from...

  • “Be True to Your School”

    Emma Philbrook, The Times|Sep 25, 2014

WAITSBURG -- ASB officers chose an unusual way to welcome fellow students to the new school year. At a morning assembly on the first day of classes, the song "Be True to Your School" blasted over the auditorium's loudspeakers. ASB President Owen Lanning busted moves in a vintage letterman's jacket, and the vice-president, secretary, and treasurer performed a synchronized backup routine with pom-poms. The students in the audience laughed, perhaps caught off guard by the occasionally silly moves t...

  • It’sAlways Halloween at Croft’s

    Ken Graham, The Times|Sep 25, 2014

DAYTON - When you walk through the front door, you immediately get a creepy feeling. Witches hover in front of you; spiders and skeletons dangle in the shadows; spooky black cats lurk in dark corners. Halloween is coming, and Croft's Floral and Gifts, Dayton's normally cheerful downtown flower shop, had taken on a haunted quality. Croft's offers a great selection of Halloween decorations and gifts year round. (Same goes for Christmas stuff.) But when October rolls around, the creep factor...

She, WHS graduate Kimmie Hamann, and WHS FFA advisor Nicole Abel were about to give a presentation before global leaders in the agriculture industry. The venue would be the sumptuous Grand Ballroom at San Francisco's Westin St....

    Ken Graham, | The Times|Sep 18, 2014

  • Waitsburg’s “Burly Cupid” Will Be Missed

    Dena Wood, The Times|Sep 11, 2014

WAITSBURG – A handful of individuals in every community make their mark by fulfilling the call to civic responsibility by working with clubs and organizations and/or holding public office in order to serve the needs of society. These people deserve our gratitude, appreciation and honor. Even less common than the handful is the singleton who forgoes public and organized service in favor of making a conscious effort to touch lives and show love to all who crossed his path. Such is the case with W...
