WAITSBURG - This year's Waitsburg Elementary's Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough fundraiser was a huge success. Thirty-seven students met their goal, and their messy reward was helping transform Principal Monty Sabin into a human ice cream sundae. Luckily for Sabin, October 16 was a warm Friday afternoon.
Achievement was labeled by color: white, yellow, green, pink, and blue, signifying the level of sundae-making the students earned.
Beginning with white, all thirty-seven participating students laid the sundae's foundation by putting ice cream on Sabin. The 28 students in the yellow group raised $150 or more and added syrups and marshmallows. The 24 students who raised $350 or more formed the green group and added whipped cream and Fruity Pebbles to the growing sundae. The ten students who formed the pink group raised over $450 and added cookie crumbles and cherries. The top earners, the five blue group students, raised more than $900 and topped the sundae with sprinkles before each popped confetti over it to the delight of everyone attending the event.
Student participants were: Cash Grende, Chloe Abel, Charlie Reger, Greyson Moore, Vera Ahler, Alayna Dean, Avery Janovich, Kaidence Wilcox, Gemma Pennington, Maverick Dean, Waylon Cole, McKenna Board, Brooklynn Board, Jane Ely, Bode Brannock, Ember Adams, Ehtan Hays, Willa Noble, Dax Scoles, Cash Noble, Alyssa Cole, Lillian Cole, Ashlynn Cerda, Gracie Compton, Aiden Donovan, Grace Quigg, Jesse Jadin, Cian Ledford, Jace Jadin, Scarlett Scott, James Watson, Kennedy Henze, Mason Day, Bridger Abel, Emmett Kibler, Everleigh Watson, Maddox Lachowicz, Pierce Henze, Flint Abel, Lowden Henze, Kashton Lachowicz, Talen Kibler, Axel Lachowicz, Tucker Brown, Azaliah Flores, Izellah Flores, Elena Strak.
"Waitsburg School District is proud to announce that our elementary school's recent Otis Spunkmeyer fundraiser was a tremendous success, raising a total of $14,819," said Sabin, the good-natured Ice Cream Sundae.
"We want to recognize our top student sellers for their outstanding efforts: Waylon Cole ($1,080), Jane Ely ($973), Cash Grende ($967), Brooklyn Board ($965), and McKenna Board ($932)," said Sabin. "Every student who participated helped make this fundraiser a success, and we are grateful for their hard work. We sincerely thank the families, businesses, and community members who purchased items and supported our students. Your generosity reflects the strong partnership between our schools and our community.
"The funds raised will allow us to provide engaging educational activities that enrich our students' learning and create memorable experiences throughout the school year. Thank you, Waitsburg, for continuing to support our kids," said Sabin.
