DAYTON — The Dayton School Board met in the high school library on July 15, 2026. Superintendent Jeremy Wheatley, Board Chair Jeffrey McCowen, and Board members Ryan Paulson, Pat Davidson, and Grant Griffin participated in person in the school library. Aneesha Dieu was not present.
The board passed the consent agenda, which included an announcement that Tawnya Johnson, a College Place resident, had been hired as a teacher at the elementary school. Wheatley said Johnson was one of nine applicants for the position.
Wheatley said the school’s computer system will be down after July 20, as the district transfers to new software. He anticipates the transfer will be completed by mid-August.
Wheatley provided options for the Strategic Plan Board Retreat in August. These retreats function as super work sessions. Wheatley suggested dates when a Washington State School Directors Association representative could attend to provide strategic planning support. The board selected August 6, 2026, for the retreat.
