The Waitsburg Alumni Association welcomed alumni from across the country to its annual banquet held on Saturday, May 16th, at the Waitsburg Town Hall. The evening was a celebration of scholarship, strengthened connections across graduating classes, and support for the association's future.
More than 90 guests attended the event. Highlights included scholarship announcements for eight graduates from the Class of 2026, an update on the Prescott School District's economic situation by Prescott Alumni Board Member Monesa Grant, and the presentation of the Karen Huwe Mohney Alumni Award.
The award is given to alumni who have shown strong commitment and devoted countless hours of service to the community. This year, Ross and Vickie Hamann were honored.
Ross has held many leadership and volunteer roles in Waitsburg, including as School Board Chairman and a Lions Club member. He served on the Downtown Revitalization Committee, Town Hall Association, and has been the President of the Waitsburg Booster Club for 27 years.
Vickie Hamann has dedicated her time to the community's youth through coaching, mentoring, and encouraging young athletes for more than two decades. She has also served as Secretary of the Waitsburg Junior Livestock Show and as a Corral Wranglers 4-H leader. As an active supporter of the Booster Club, she was recognized as the 2024 Booster of the Year.
The Waitsburg Alumni Association is invested in helping future generations, as demonstrated by its contribution of eight scholarships to graduates this year.
The Waitsburg Alumni Association plans to continue alumni engagement opportunities throughout the year, by assisting the booster club in the Pep Rally every September, and possibly other student events to help support future alumni.
