Cardinals and Bulldogs participate in HS football jamboree

WAITSBURG - The 2025 Varsity Football Jamboree was held at Lybeker Field in Pomeroy on August 29. Teams from Waitsburg, Dayton, DeSales, Gar-Pal, Teloa-Rosalia, St. John, and Liberty Christian.

Each team had the opportunity to play twenty offensive and twenty defensive plays against various teams.

The Waitsburg Cardinals played defense against Liberty Christian A, followed by offense against Liberty Christian B. The Cardinals finished playing offense against Pomeroy and defense against Tekoa-Rosalia.

"The jamboree was a good litmus test," said Cardinal Coach Gabe Kiefel. "Defensively, we did well, holding teams to a few big plays and only one score."

"Offensively, we ran the ball well, threw the ball well, caught the ball well, and blocked well," Kiefel continued." We still have some things to work on, but overall, I think we are heading in the right direction as a team."

The Cardinals will play DeSales in Waitsburg on September 5; kickoff at 7 p.m.
