River Walk Cottages are designed to feel more homey, taking advantage of natural light and a familiar floorplan.

DAYTON-The Columbia County Health System community has looked forward to the opening of the River Walk Assisted Living facility since construction began in 2021,

After weeks of anticipation and preparation, Rivers Walk Assisted Living welcomed all 18 residents from Booker Rest Home in time for Valentine's Day. The residents have moved into cottages B and C at the new facility.

"A wonderful atmosphere filled the air on this momentous occasion - big bay windows allowed plenty of sun in while family members sat beside loved ones enjoying the music playing on TVs and surrounded by cheerful decorations honoring love. Everyone involved was all smiles amid an incredible day that marked much-anticipated beginnings at Rivers Walk Assisted Living," wrote Sean Russell, Director of Communications and Marketing for CCHS.

River Walk offers an innovative home-like alternative to traditional nursing home design. It has been designed to better offer care to patiets with varying needs. The additional capacity and functionality of this type of facility may allow more residents to stay in their communities if they require assistance.

The CCHS thanked those who helped bring this project to fruition for their dedication and hard work.

"Without you all, this amazing project would never have become a reality – so thank YOU for helping breathe life into it," Columbia County Health System.
