October 27, 2022

DAYTON—When a recently deceased ghost couple finds their beloved home has been sold to an obnoxious family, they hire a sleazy ghost who gets rid of humans to help them.

Some consider this 1988 movie to be a classic Halloween comedy. Rotten Tomatoes critics rate this movie 85% favorable, and the audience gives it an 82%. The comments by critics on the website include “Brilliantly bizarre and overflowing with ideas,” “Beetlejuice offers some of Michael Keaton’s most deliciously manic work,” and “Creepy, funny fun for the whole family.”

The movie was directed by Tim Burton, and the cast includes Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Winona Ryder, and others. Talk show host Dick Cavett plays an art critic in one of the movie’s funniest scenes, the seance dinner party. Shrimp cocktail, anyone?

Rated PG, “Beetlejuice” has a runtime of 92 minutes. It will show from Friday, October 28, to Tuesday, November 1. See the advertisement below and our website for more details on show times and ticket prices.

The only other movie The Liberty will show in November will be “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 25, as part of the Christmas Kickoff in Downtown Dayton.
