Amanda Toms, Tyler Usco and their son, Azarius, posed for a photo inside their new café in Dayton.

DAYTON-Tyler Usco and Amanda Toms want you to relax when you visit their new café and boutique at 217 East Main St. in Dayton.

Usco said there was a soft opening for the Winter Rose Café & Boutique during Christmas Kickoff and now they are ready for some serious business.

"We've been steadily picking up business," he said.

Usco, who got his start cooking at the Marcus Whitman Restaurant in Walla Walla, said his Spicy Avocado Bagel has been a hit. He also recommends the Papa Scramble and the Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches. He will serve alternating specials for dinner, including tacos, Teriyaki Chicken and Hawaiian lasagna.

Yes, Hawaiian lasagna, said Usco. That is lasagna made with pineapple rings and Canadian bacon, he explained.

"I love to cook," Usco said.

He said the café is open daily from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. and will stay open later in the day on Fridays and Saturdays.

"We're kind of keeping prices reasonable. Nothing is over $10," he said.

Amanda Toms was born and raised in Dayton, and said she has been dreaming of opening a café and boutique since she was 19 years old.

The boutique is a business she has developed making and selling wire-wrapped jewelry and revamping vintage clothing she finds at estate sale and yard sales. She said she has been selling her clothing line and jewelry on Etsy, on Facebook and to friends.

Usco and Toms said they prefer quality over quantity, and they look forward to customers stopping by for espresso, or to dine and shop.

"Sit down. Stay awhile," said Usco.

The phone number for Winter Rose Café & Boutique is: (509) 382-8985. They can be found on Facebook, as well.
