Howard (Jack)Meyers Edmenson, 99, of Dayton, passed away on March 27, 2018

Howard was born on the breaks of the Lolo River in Idaho, just this side of Weippe, October 27, 1918, to Tallahassee (Jordan) Edmenson and Harvey James Edmenson. The family moved to Weippe in 1920 to start logging in the woods for Potlatch, Cardiff and various other logging companies. Jack left Weippe when he was 18 years old and moved to Dayton, WA, where he worked for George Crall driving truck and then Scott Lumber logging company building roads. One of the roads he built was the road into Touchet Corrals. He also worked for the Consolidated Freightways out of Portland for a short time, Columbia County Road Department driving road grader, ML & M Logging and Caterpillar/Braden Tractor as a mechanic before starting up his own business in 1960 on Patit Road called “Dayton Welding and Blacksmithing,” which he ran until his retirement in 1985.

Jack had a daughter, Sally Martin Kirkindahl and son Bill Edmenson from a previous marriage. Jack married Charlotte Startin in 1944 and raised two daughters, Sheri Edmenson Fouts and Jackie Edmenson Penner.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, daughters Jackie( Jay) Penner of Waitsburg; Sheri (Bob) Fouts of Spokane and Sally Kirkindahl of Walla Walla, grandchildren Dwight (Janell) Penner, Debbie (Kirk) Fortner, Vickie (Randy) Lewis, Bill(Roseanne) Groom, Jennifer(Phil) Turner, Jack Edmenson, Darin (Heidi) Delp, Brian Delp and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by mother Tallahassee, father Harvey; brothers, Harley, Baxter, Jonny, Helsel, Rance; sisters, Rhoda, Piney, Caddie and Talley and son Bill Edmenson.

Hubbard Rogg Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements.

A memorial will be held at a later date.
